Tourism Fort Macleod is operated by the Cultural Heritage Tourism Alliance (CHTA), a non-profit organization led by regional tourism partners dedicated to preserving, promoting, and celebrating the unique stories and attractions that make Fort Macleod a must-visit destination in southern Alberta.

At the heart of our community stands the Empress Theatre, a beautifully restored 1912 opera house that continues to host live performances, concerts, and films — keeping the arts alive in the heart of downtown. Just steps away, visitors can stroll through Historic Main Street, one of Alberta’s most charming heritage districts, lined with beautifully preserved 19th-century architecture, boutique shops, and inviting cafés.

History comes to life at the Fort Museum of the North-West Mounted Police and First Nations Interpretive Centre, where visitors can explore Canada’s early law enforcement story and the cultural connections with Indigenous Peoples through engaging exhibits, live demonstrations, and interpretive programming.

Only minutes from town lies Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that stands as one of the world’s oldest and best-preserved buffalo jumps.
